Hartland Family Chiropractic, 211 Cottonwood Avenue, was recently presented with the Golden Hammer Award by the Hartland Chamber of Commerce in recognition of exemplary property improvements.

The Chamber believes that these improvements positively and directly affect commerce in Hartland and enhance the community as a whole. The intent of the Golden Hammer Award is to further encourage property owners and businesses to invest in improvements which ultimately make Hartland a better place to work and live.

Hartland Family Chiropractic had its humble beginnings in Hartland on Cottonwood in 2013. The practice was started originally by Dr. Rohr, continued with Dr. Dennis Smith until his passing when Dr. Halaska purchased the practice. Dr. Halaska’s mission was simple, to continue helping people get well and stay well with chiropractic care. Also aligned with this mission, he not only sought to invest in the health of people but also in the health of the village by purchasing a building to renovate. The building was originally built as a post office, and when Dr. Halaska purchased it, it was an optometrist office which had smaller, darker spaces for their exams. We opened up the floorplan, raised the ceiling to expose the windows to provide natural light, and changed over to LED lighting and a smart thermostat, creating a more energy-efficient space.
