MEET YOUR MONTHLY CIP “CHAMBER IMPORTANT PERSON” – HARTLAND CHAMBER PRESIDENT, LYNN MINTURN!

Lynn has been the President/Executive Director of the Hartland Chamber of Commerce since 2004, responsible for developing and guiding an active program aimed at improving business-civic conditions, and identifying finite details needed to run a business and plan large-scale special events. Lynn came to the chamber with a strong financial and marketing background having been a Financial Advisor with Morgan Stanley in Watertown, WI for several years and a Senior Product Manager with Firstar Information Services in Milwaukee, WI for almost 15 years.

TEN THINGS SHE CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT:
FAMILY
My husband’s laugh and my son’s smile – genuine, spontaneous expressions of love – when they are happy, my world borders on perfection. Most of my family lives within a 10 mile radius. It is so easy to get together on the spur of the moment.

CHAMBER VOLUNTEERS
These magnificent individuals spend hours and hours every year helping make great things happen in Hartland. As they say, “It takes a Village”.

OIKOS KEY LIME YOGURT
My go-to breakfast.

BEING CONNECTED
I work alone much of the time but need to be in constant contact with dozens of individuals, businesses and committees every day. Though often maligned, email is the only efficient means to keep on top of an ever-moving calendar of events, seminars, meetings and chamber offerings.

CREATIVE OUTLET
I constantly dabble in DIY projects. Whether decorating, cooking, crafting or sewing, when I look at something I like to take it apart visually and try to figure out how I can first, make it and then, make it my own. To bring that creative outlet into my work day, I am constantly finessing ideas and twisting them on their head to find a new way to do something old. The discovery of what might be possible is intriguing to me.

MAGNIFIERS
I only need them for reading but you’ll often see me with a pair on top of my head even if I have a pair on my face because I can’t be caught without them.

GUILTY PLEASURES
So You Think You Can Dance. Dancing with the Stars. In my youth, I danced for years and taught some classes, and thought at one time I might pursue it as a career. Now I live vicariously through these shows because I’m getting to an age where I could end up in traction if I tried some of those moves.

WISCONSIN’S SEASONS
I adore the warmer months because I cherish the time spent outside having impromptu ‘clean out the freezer” or ‘take it from the garden’ cookouts with family and friends. I can’t wait to start the bonfire then turn on the music and dance, sing badly and laugh until we have tears streaming down our cheeks. Fall is so beautiful here and while winters can be taxing, it just wouldn’t be Christmas without the snow. And, of course, the Packers. Oh, wait…I keep forgetting that is not a season.

CLEAN CLOSETS
My week can feel like a roller coaster ride having to keep so many details in check, but having organized closets gives me a sense of calm and of being in control in at least one area of my life.

HAVING A PURPOSE
Whether it’s my job, being a good wife and mother, volunteering, crossing things off my bucket list or just finding joy in the day, I feel validated at the end of the week for a job well-done if I had a goal and a purpose.
